Family

My family is a family of six, and that of Mexican descent. My father, Marco Antonio Navarro, was born in Angamacutiro, Michoacán, Mexico on April 23, 1964. My mother, Gabriela Navarro, was born in Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico on February 27, 1967. Although both my parents were born in Mexico, my siblings and I were born in the US. My oldest brother, Marco Antonio Navarro Jr., was born in Ventura, CA on June 3, 1989. My second oldest brother, Jonathan Navarro, was born in Oxnard, CA on July 26, 1990. I, Victor Navarro, was born in Oxnard, CA on October 22, 1994. My youngest sibling and only sister, Yarelly Navarro, was born in Ventura, CA on August 13, 2001. My family is based on many Mexican traditions; for example, my mom usually stays home and cooks, while my dad works from morning to afternoon. My brother Jonathan also works to help pay the rent. On Decembers, we always visit my grandparents in Mexico. It’s easy visiting both my grandmas even though they live in different cities in Mexico. My dad’s mom lives just an hour away from my mom’s mom. We also get together on holidays and usually eat Tamales or Pozole. For my family, Sunday is “Soccer Sunday”. I play on a soccer team which consists of my brother Jonathan, and 4 cousins and many friends which my uncles and aunts cheer us on every Sunday. After our soccer games, we all usually get together and barbecue with our friends and family at my uncles house. While we barbecue, we watch the Mexican League soccer games and at times bet against each other.

I know it wasn’t easy for my dad to come into the US and work his way up to where he is right now, that is why I love my dad, even though at times I feel like he isn’t there for me. My dad overcame many struggles and still managed to live his life happy. I look up to my dad at times; one day, I want to be as a hard-worker as he is.

My family means the world to me. There may be times where I get into arguments with my parents or with my brothers but at the end of the day. I still love and cherish them. I would do anything for my family. I love my family; I wouldn’t trade them for the world.
